Bloblade is a pirate-themed .io game. You play as a tiny sailor. Your job: grow bigger and stronger while the island keeps shrinking around you. What makes it stand out from other .io games is the pirate theme woven through everything—character designs, slashing weapons, even "treasure" instead of plain points. But strip that away, and the core is familiar. A shrinking map. Opponents, AI or real? A leaderboard where you fight to be the last pirate standing.
Below is a quick comparison between Bloblade and other games in the genre to help you better understand its position:
At the start of the match, you begin as a small character with virtually no combat capability. Your initial task isn't to hunt down enemies to slash but rather to navigate the map, collecting coins and treasure chests scattered across the island. With each item consumed, your health, size, and attack power increase slightly—enough to give you the confidence to take on smaller pirates nearby.
Game Controls:

Once you've built up enough strength early on, things change fast. A ring of toxic gas starts closing in around the map. Every pirate left alive gets pushed into a shrinking space. There's nowhere left to hide. The match stops being about exploring and turns into a straight-up brawl. You can't dodge much anymore. Every fight now could decide whether you make it further or get knocked out.
Going for the weakest target isn't enough anymore. You have to read each situation first. A big pirate trapped near the edge of the map might be an easier kill than a small one standing in open space with a clear escape route. The charged dash matters more than ever here. Use it to finish off a weakened rival. Or use it to break away when several pirates close in on you at once.
Avoid unnecessary fights. Look for locations abundant in treasure chests but with minimal pirate activity, and prioritize increasing your size first, the time for attacking can be postponed.
Once you find a pirate roughly your size or smaller, and no one else is close enough to jump in and back them up, that's your window.
Save it for a moment when the opponent is caught off guard and can't react fast enough, or when you need a quick way out of a crowd closing in on you.
Not really. The longer you hold it, the longer you're stuck standing still—and that's exactly when someone else gets a free hit on you.
Keep track of where the map edges are and start moving towards the middle early. Waiting until the last moment just means fighting for space in a shrinking, crowded circle.
Start with Offline mode. It's the easiest way to get comfortable with mouse movement and the dash before facing real players online.
Put it towards characters with better stats rather than ones that just look cool, that matters more the more you play online.
A private room lets you decide exactly who you're up against, which makes it a good space for practising tactics or just messing around with friends without random players in the mix.
Survive until the final seconds of the match, collect gold from defeated opponents, and use that gold to unlock new characters and pets with unique abilities for future battles.
