Shape Rush is a one-touch rhythm platformer that puts your split-second reflexes to the test. Guide your shape past obstacles and through portals. You have just 200 milliseconds to react; miss a beat, and you're done for. That’s Shape Rush.
Shape Rush operates entirely via a single button—a classic "one-touch control" scheme.
Your character surges forward continuously thanks to an auto-runner mechanic. The only thing you need to manage is the timing of your actions. Hit a spike, and it’s instant death; you’ll respawn at the start and have to try again from scratch.
Portals in Shape Rush transform your character mid-course.
Every time you pass through a portal and change shape, your brain must instantly adapt to a new rhythm. This is precisely where most newcomers stumble.
Each level in Shape Rush features its own unique electronic soundtrack, with obstacles choreographed to sync perfectly with the beat. The six tracks are:

Each obstacle is precisely synchronized with the beat; if the sound is off, you play relying solely on your eyes, whereas with the sound on, you use both your ears and eyes. Skilled players often rely on the drum beat to anticipate upcoming obstacles rather than simply reacting when they appear.
The initial level is quite manageable for newcomers, but as you progress, the speed increases, the gaps between obstacles narrow, and trap patterns become increasingly dense.
A single moment of lost focus in Level 5 or 6 is enough to send you back to the beginning, even if you have already completed 95% of the level. This is a deliberate design choice: the instant retry mechanism ensures that failure doesn't waste time waiting, and each attempt helps you better memorize the exact location of the next trap.
Break the level into short segments around each portal, and master the Cube, Ship, and Ball sections individually before putting the whole level together.
In the Ship section, avoid holding the button too long and flying straight into the ceiling. Release the button a split-second earlier than your instinct suggests, as the ship continues to drift upward slightly after you let go.
Before entering a portal, adjust your tapping rhythm to align with the nearest musical beat rather than relying on intuition. New elements always appear right at the start of a beat, so syncing with the rhythm yields greater accuracy than guesswork.
If you die at the same spot more than three times, stop trying to clear it immediately; instead, use that attempt to observe the obstacles that follow carefully. Most players get stuck at the hardest part simply because they haven't seen what the subsequent section looks like.
