Wacky Walk is a physics-based arcade game in the "frustrating but addictive" camp, in the same category as Getting Over It. You steer a character on wooden stilts through courses packed with obstacles. Most of the fun comes from the failures, which tend to be so ridiculous that you get annoyed and still hit retry straight away.
Skills you need to get the hang of
- Mouse control: Click and drag to move each stilt separately. Only one leg moves at a time, so you alternate left and right to make progress.
- Balance: Where and at what angle you plant a stilt decides whether your character stays upright or topples over. Short, accurate steps are safer than big ones.
- Timing: Take it slowly. Dragging your legs too fast is one of the easiest ways to lose your footing.
- Jumping: Some gaps and obstacles can't be crossed with a normal step, so you have to jump. The further the jump, the steadier your landing needs to be.
Content and game modes
| Feature | Details |
|---|
| Campaign | Forests, farms and wild stages, with difficulty rising step by step |
| Checkpoints | After a fall, you respawn at the nearest checkpoint instead of replaying the whole level |
| Challenges | Fear of Heights, Dutch Nightmare, Pillars of Doom, One-Legged Catapult |
| Endless Mode | An open-ended mode to test how far your skills can take you |
| Characters | 30+ walkers to unlock (Goat, Hotdog, Duck, Frog, Robot, Garfield, Moose, Clown and more) |
| Customization | Hats, accessories and unusual stilts (for example, pencils instead of wooden poles) |
- Obstacles: Floating logs, submarines, windmills, piranhas, hornets, and tiny volcanoes. With this much variety, no two levels feel quite the same.

What stands out
- Easy to understand: It runs in the browser and needs only a mouse, so anyone can start playing within seconds.
- Funny physics: The falls are comical enough that losing feels entertaining, not irritating.
- Fair checkpoints: They take the edge off the frustration and keep the game moving.
- Things to collect: More than 30 characters plus customisation items give you reasons to keep coming back.
- Plenty of modes: Campaign, challenges and endless play cover both casual players and people who want a tougher test.
How to get further
- Choose short, steady steps over long strides.
- Look ahead and spot the hazards before you move.
- Only jump when you really have to, and think about where you'll land.
- Treat checkpoints as a safe place to try out different approaches.
- Slow down on narrow paths and rough ground.
General Assessment
Wacky Walk is a small, focused game built around a clear idea, and it makes good use of the "hard but funny" formula. What keeps you playing is the slow sense of improvement, going from wobbling around clumsily to crossing the tricky sections with ease. The large cast of characters and the range of modes give it more staying power than you'd expect from a casual game. On the downside, the difficulty may put off newcomers, and the mouse controls take some practice.
If you've got used to timing your moves and dodging obstacles in Wacky Walk, Endless Jump is worth trying next. It still tests your precision and reflexes, but at a quicker pace, and you no longer have to work out every single step.
